Begin with Group 1 to assess. Write a sound on one side of an index card with an example on the back side. Practice saying the sounds quickly, every day for 20 days. Then, go on to the next group. Keep a progress monitoring chart. If you have trouble progressing through these groups, you likely need extra reading help.
Group 1: r, b, d, f, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, t, w, v, z, y(4), s(2), c(2), g(2), th(2), sh, ck
Group 2: short: a, e, i, o, u, long: a, e, i, o, u(2), x, qu, ch(3), wh(2), wr, tch, -ed(3)

Group 5: ink, ank, onk, unk, ang, ing, ong, ung, ai, ay, eigh, oa, oe, ow, ee, ea(3)
Group 6: ey(2), ei(2), igh, ar, er, ir, ur, or, ind, olt, ild, old, ost(2), all, oll
Group 7: oi, oy, ui, eu, oo(2), ou(2), ew(2), au, aw, ph, phr
Group 8: le, dge, cle, kn, rh, gn, gh(3), gu, mb, mn, tion, sion, cion
